The Sr. Associate, Training & Learning, Girl Up will deliver, with oversight, Girl Up’s issue area and leadership programming. This includes Sexual & Reproductive Health, Rights & Justice (SRHRJ), Gender Based Violence (GBV), curriculum development efforts, Girl Up’s overall approach to the learning and development of its global community, and implementation of Girl Up’s training camps. The Sr. Associate, Training & Learning will play a critical role in the design, continual refinement, and evaluation of all learning content and curricula related to Girl Up’s leadership development programs, core gender issues and advocacy skills, as well as the learning content of Girl Up trainings and events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a love for learning and teaching, willingness to collaborate with their peers, and a commitment to Girl Up’s mission and Core Values.

The Senior Associate, Training & Learning, Girl Up is a member of the Girl Up team and reports to the Manager, Training & Learning, Girl Up. They work closely with all members of the Girl Up team, including programs, communications, development and operations.

This position is based in Washington, DC or U.S. remote.

Essential Functions

  • Incorporate industry best practices in global youth education and stay abreast of new knowledge in the field to enhance Girl Up’s pedagogy, learning standards, and approach to girl-centered curriculum development
  • Lead, with supervision, engagement and enhancement of Girl Up’s existing Leadership Course and develop new Girl Up curricula, digital learning resources, and training materials into a virtual Learning Management System (LMS), including content development, stakeholder engagement, collaboration across Girl Up teams and external partners, the curriculum roll-out process, and management of external consultants when needed
  • Support implementation of Girl Up’s camps, including those focused on leadership and Women in Science (“WiSci”)
  • Assess and strengthen existing Girl Up curricula and learning resources on a constant basis, ensuring content meets learning objectives, remains relevant and girl-centered, and engages Girl Up’s global youth community
  • Execute all program and resource development, partner engagement, and implementation on key Girl Up gender equality issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights & Justice (SRHRJ) and Gender Based Violence (GBV), leading efforts and coordination on annual planning, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Ensure the implementation and integration of Girl Up’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) action plan across all Girl Up curriculum, content, and learning initiatives
  • Collaborate with Girl Up’s Communications team on digital content development and engagement strategies across Girl Up’s learning resources
  • Support the Manager, Training & Learning and development team on fundraising proposals related to SRHRJ, GBV, leadership, curriculum development and learning outcomes as needed
  • Collaborate with Director, Programs & Impact to research, design, and launch evergreen train-the-trainer (TTT) methodologies and resources for Girl Up HQ and global teams
  • Collaborate across team on the creation and/or strengthening of innovative, digital-first content and programming for the annual Leadership Summit, camps, and other events and trainings
  • Ensure all new curriculum and issue area programming are based on Girl Up’s core learning outcomes, leadership framework and key M&E indicators
  • Other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-4 years of professional experience in youth programming and facilitation required
  • Demonstrated success in developing curricula and/or learning resources (for an international youth audience preferred)
  • Commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive workplace
  • Ability to appreciate, embrace and advance diversity and have experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations
  • Eye for detail and strong organizational skills
  • Experience in managing long-term projects and balancing multiple tasks
  • Experience in women and girls’ issues (girls’ leadership experience preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience in, or desire to grow in, external partner and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a capacity to work across teams to collaborate, problem solve and build relationships
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation, including data collection, management and analysis.
  • Experience in graphic design platforms, i.e., Canva, preferred
  • Stress tolerance, resilience, and ability to work under pressure with multiple and shifting priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time and willingness to work on weekends as needed
