Today is the deadline for nominations for the 2007 Weblog Awards. Throwing caution (and humility) to the wind, we’ve submitted our efforts for consideration in two categories, Best Blog (might as well aim for the top), and Best Individual Blogger for our founder, Nate Hale, aka Spook86.

If you believe our work is worthy of recognition in those (or other) areas, well we certainly won’t discourage you from seconding those existing nominations, or submitting us in other categories. However, we should point out that “In From the Cold” is probably a poor choice for “Best Liberal Blog,” “Best Pet Blog,” and “Best Food Blog.” (Darn, we should have posted that banana pudding recipe and those puppy photos last week).

On another note, this blog recently reached a minor milestone, recording its 1,000,000th page view last week. We are thankful for (and humbled by) your continued readership and support. We’re also very cognizant that our “reach” is very small, compared to the big boys (and girls) of the blogosphere.

Still, this blog was never founded to be the biggest (or the most widely read). Our goal remains the same today as it was back on February 28, 2005: to providing insight and information on defense, intelligence and national security issues that you won’t find any where else. Our success is measured in your continued patronage and feedback.

And for that, we are eternally grateful.
