Description

The M100 Young European Journalists Workshop is part of the renowned annual international media conference M100 Sanssouci Colloquium. The workshop addresses a young generation of journalists and editors between the ages of 18 of 26 from Europe, the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova), and Russia. In addition to the cultivation of practical and theoretical knowledge relating to journalistic work, the workshop also seeks to generate professional contacts and long-term ties among participants. It is often the first opportunity for our fifteen journalists from the countries of the Eastern Partnership to visit a Western European country. At the same time, the ten European journalists have often not known yet journalists from countries with limited freedom of speech. This fruitful exchange is an important factor, as it presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn about the different conditions under which their fellow journalists from different political and social systems live and work. Close ties among the M100 alumni is maintained. Even several years later, most participants are still in contact on social media or meet in M100 alumni meetings. Some of the M100 alumni now work for successful independent European media, such as De Correspondent in the Netherlands or Hromadske.TV in Ukraine. Others have founded their own media organisations, such as the investigative network Correctiv or the international reporting platform Outriders. The workshop will be held in English.
