You can make them gluten free by using an alternative flour to the plain flour &#8211; I&#8217;ve used Dove&#8217;s farm in the past with excellent results.<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">The beetroot is earthy and sweet but given a lift with the aromatic mint and spices and the crispy batter makes them rather moreish! You have been warned! Bhaji\u2019s are very easy to make, and you can re-heat them in a warm oven so are handy to make ahead of your meal. They are also very cheap to make and are a great, easy little starter or a side to your dinner!<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">Makes about 18 bhaji&#8217;s depending on your spoon size!<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">260g diced cooked beetroot<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">\u00bd red onion, diced<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">1 tsp ground coriander<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">2 tsp yellow mustard seeds<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">S&amp;p<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">1 tsp dried mint<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">150g gram flour<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">50g plain flour<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">250ml ice cold water<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">Sunflower oil for frying<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><b>Method:<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">Dice the beetoot and onion into 1\/2cm cubes, place in a bowl with all the spices and toss together.<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-v5J0iY6BVbo\/UwSc8IZ2IFI\/AAAAAAAAeRY\/u9HWbDvaeU4\/s1600\/beetroot+bhajis+jan+14+(3).JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"color: #8e1d59; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-decoration-line: none;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"213\" src=\"http:\/\/cvnextjob.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/beetrootbhajisjan143.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-95341\" style=\"border: none; padding: 8px; position: relative;\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">Seperately sieve the flours together, and mix in the water to form a batter, whisk well and mix in the vegetables.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-kgBWhi1SuuQ\/UwScxRjRM6I\/AAAAAAAAeRQ\/jPH3xFrMa-Y\/s1600\/beetroot+bhajis+jan+14+(4).JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"color: #8e1d59; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-decoration-line: none;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"213\" src=\"http:\/\/cvnextjob.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/beetrootbhajisjan144.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-95342\" style=\"border: none; padding: 8px; position: relative;\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">Heat 1 inch of sunflower oil in a deep saucepan (or deep fat fryer) and once a little drop of batter browns within 30 seconds, place spoonfuls of the mixture carefully into the hot oil. Ideally wear an apron as they can spit! Fry them for about 3 minutes, then gently flip over for a further 2-3 minutes or until bubbling and the batter has cooked through. Use a heatproof spoon to occasionally spoon the hot oil over the bhajis to help cook through but very carefully &#8211; it will be very hot!<\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"NoSpacing\">If the oil starts getting too hot and the mixture is burning then turn down the temperature a little.
