Friendly\u00a0Fellows work full time at U.S. host news organizations while developing their journalism skills.<\/div>\n<div>Friendly Fellows learn to:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve skills\u00a0in gathering information, interviewing and writing;<\/li>\n<li>Add social perspective to business and political reporting;<\/li>\n<li>Write more\u00a0balanced news articles, more polished feature stories and more in-depth\u00a0analytical\u00a0pieces;<\/li>\n<li>Improve written and spoken English;<\/li>\n<li>Become more\u00a0vigorous and\u00a0confident journalists;<\/li>\n<li>Gain insight into American culture,\u00a0business, and politics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>ELIGIBILITY<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>An early-career professional journalist from developing countries with proficiency in English can apply for a six-month fellowship;<\/li>\n<li>Applications should be 25-35 years old;<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should have at least three years of experience as a journalist at a print, online or broadcast media outlet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>FELLOWSHIP<\/h1>\n<div>The fellowship covers all costs of program-related international and domestic U.S. travel, health insurance and provides a monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses. It is highly recommended that fellows bring additional money with them.
