Seminars will look into the regulation of \u201cspaces\u201d (e.g. governance of the high seas), the regulation of \u201cresources\u201d and their use (e.g. the regulation of foreign investments), and the governance of \u201cpeople\u201d (e.g. in the context of refugee movements). The ongoing significance of the concept of territory will be discussed not only from a theoretical perspective, but also with a view to its practical implications in different areas of international law. Classes will also explore areas in which the territorial focus of international law is increasingly replaced by alternative (e.g. \u201ctransnational\u201d) modes of governance.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p>The number of participants is limited to 30.<\/p>\n<p>Prerequisites for participation are a minimum of one year of university study in law or political sciences, basic knowledge of Public International Law and a very good command of written and spoken English. Professors will not be able to accommodate language difficulties. Knowledge of German is not necessary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Cost<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Registration fee:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20ac 200,00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuition:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20ac 525,00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Housing fee:<\/strong>\u00a0\u20ac 410,00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The tuition covers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>academic programme as well as curricular excursions<\/li>\n<li>course reading materials<\/li>\n<li>public transportation ticket for the city of Munich<\/li>\n<li>transfer by bus, board and lodging of the opening retreat in Burghausen<\/li>\n<li>mensa and cafeteria access<\/li>\n<li>internet access at the student residence (LAN) and university (WiFi)<\/li>\n<li>library access<\/li>\n<li>tutors and emergency contact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The tuition does not cover:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>costs of travel from your home country to Munich and back<\/li>\n<li>meals, except during the opening retreat<\/li>\n<li>participation in extracurricular excursions: day trip to castle Neuschwanstein (35\u20ac)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Waiver<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A limited number of tuition fee waivers are available, ranging from partial tuition fee waivers of 50% up to full (100%) tuition fee waivers. Tuition waivers will be awarded on the basis of\u00a0the overall quality of applications.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants who wish to apply for a tuition fee waiver should check the waiver application box during the online application. No extra application is necessary.<\/p>\n<h3>Application<\/h3>\n<p>Deadline for application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First application period: April 1, 2019, 12:00 pm CEST (noon)<\/li>\n<li>Second application period: May 1, 2019, 12:00 pm CEST (noon)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students who present a convincing application and whose academic or professional background is based on public international law may already be admitted in the first round.
