The SUR Programme committee and the School of Biology are pleased to announce the opening of the online application to candidates from all around the world for the 2023 edition until January 31st<\/sup>, 2023 (midnight CET).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The SUR Programme 2023 will take place from July 3rd till August 25th and will only take place if the health situation allows it, according\u00a0 to the recommendations of the FOPH (Federal Office of Public Health) and the Swiss Confederation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A cancellation at the last minute remains possible. In that case, travel expenses already paid by selected candidates will not be covered by the SUR Programme.<\/p>\n

Selected candidates must ensure that they respect the applicable rules concerning entry into Switzerland\u00a0<\/strong>Coronavirus: Entering Switzerland<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The SUR Programme will not cover the cost of any Covid testing (before, during and after the programme).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We kindly ask you to carefully read the following eligibility criteria<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eligibility and Selection<\/h2>\n
\n

The programme is aimed at students who are currently mid-way through their bachelor’s degree<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in any biological or medical field.\u00a0Applicants who have completed only one year of an undergraduate degree or currently in their last year are not eligible. Master-degree or PhD students are not eligible.<\/span><\/strong>
\nWe consider study in biology and medicine broadly,\u00a0but applicants engaged in studies in physical therapy, nursery, dentistry or veterinary science will not be considered.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The programme is highly competitive and students are chosen based upon their academic record (typically GPA >3.75 or equivalent, and\/or top 5% class ranking), personal statements, and letters of recommendation.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If your university does not use a 4-point scale, then include an explanation of your grading scale in the online application (under curriculum vitae B).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Students should have very good abilities in written and spoken English and\u00a0must<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0be present for the entire programme to participate. For organizational matters, we cannot change the programme\u2019s date.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Selected participants will be informed via email about 6 weeks after the application deadline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  1. A document in PDF format providing information that will be\u00a0used\u00a0in the selection process.\u00a0Please use the template available here<\/a>\u00a0(SUR Programme 2023 application questionnaire).<\/li>\n
  2. Academic transcripts in pdf format (if not in English or French, and authenticated translation should also be submitted as part of the same transcript pdf document<\/li>\n
  3. Two recommendation letters, which must be submitted by people familiar\u00a0with your academic work (e.g.,\u00a0professors). During the application process, you will be asked to indicate the\u00a0contact details of your\u00a0referee.
    \nAn automatic email will be sent to them asking to fill out\u00a0    the Recommendation letter template available here.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You will find on our website\u00a0the potential\u00a0host laboratories list<\/a>\u00a0in the UNIL Faculty of Biology and Medicine.\u00a0In your application, you must select the lab\u00a0in which you would like to conduct research.<\/p>\n

    Applications must be submitted by midnight CET on January 31st, 2023<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0Reference letters must also be submitted by this deadline.
