ISTERNSHIP SUMMER PROGRAM<\/h1>\n

Outstanding bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s students can join ISTA in the ISTernship program. Students who are interested in basic research in the fields of\u00a0biology<\/a>,\u00a0computer science<\/a>,\u00a0data science & scientific computing<\/a>,\u00a0mathematics<\/a>,\u00a0physics<\/a>,\u00a0neuroscience<\/a>,\u00a0chemistry & materials<\/a>, and interdisciplinary areas, are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Due to delays caused by the recent\u00a0cyberattack<\/a>, the call for the 2023 ISTernship program will open in late December 2022 with a deadline of 15 February 2023 (15:00 CET).<\/strong><\/p>\n

THE ISTERNSHIP SUMMER PROGRAM<\/h5>\n

The\u00a0ISTernship<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cIST<\/em>-\u201d + \u201c(int)ernship<\/em>\u201c) is a summer internship program for bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s students who are looking to expand their scientific research experience. Every summer since 2013, roughly 30-40 students join the ISTernship program and work closely with our faculty or a lab member on a short research project.<\/p>\n

As part of the application, prospective interns choose a group to work in, and successful applicants agree on a research project with the group leader.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, ISTerns receive an introduction to research at ISTA as well as an introduction to the ISTA Graduate School. The program culminates with a research symposium, where ISTerns present their work to peers, faculty and lab mentors.<\/p>\n

Internships are full-time and will be conducted exclusively in English.<\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/h5>\n

Candidates must be enrolled Bachelor- or Master of Science students (or similar) in good standing at a degree-granting institution. They must have completed at least the fourth semester of their bachelor\u2019s studies before the respective start date. Students accepted to or enrolled in a PhD program are not eligible to apply.<\/p>\n

DURATION<\/h5>\n

2-3 months<\/strong>\u00a0between\u00a0May 15<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0September 15<\/strong>. Exact dates and length are decided together with the supervisor.<\/p>\n

APPLICATION<\/h5>\n

For applications for summer 2023, we expect the application portal to be open on or around 20 December 2022. The application deadline is 28 February 2023 (15:00 CET).<\/p>\n
