It<br \/>\noperates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK\u2019s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth. By attracting individuals with outstanding talent and identifiable potential from all backgrounds and supporting them to become leaders and innovators on returning to their home countries, the CSC\u2019s work combines sustainable development with the UK national interest and provides opportunities for international partnerships and collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>\u00a0Funded by the UK\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-international-development\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foreign, Commonwealth &amp; Development Office (FCDO)<\/a>, Commonwealth Master\u2019s Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intended Beneficiaries:<\/strong>\u00a0Commonwealth Master\u2019s Scholarships are for candidates from eligible low and middle income Commonwealth countries, to undertake full-time taught Master\u2019s study at a UK university.<\/p>\n<p>These scholarships are offered under the six\u00a0<a title=\"Click to read more on the CSC development themes\" href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/csc-development-themes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CSC development themes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Choosing a university\/course<\/h1>\n<p>You may find the following resources useful when researching your choices of institution and course of study in the UK:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Click to visit the British Council website. The CSC would not normally fund a second UK Master\u2019s degree. If you are applying for a second UK Master\u2019s degree, you will need to provide justification as to why you wish to undertake this study<\/li>\n<li>Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship<\/li>\n<li>Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CSC aims to identify talented individuals who have the potential to make change. Link will open in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/930141\/csc-safeguarding-policy-Oct2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CSC\u2019s Safeguarding Policy<\/a>\u00a0which sets out the obligation for staff, members of the Commission, applicants for and recipients of CSC awards and suppliers to act consistently with its requirements for safeguarding.\u00a0<strong>Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to the Commission at:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:csc.safeguarding@cscuk.org.uk\">csc.safeguarding@cscuk.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Completing the application form<\/h1>\n<p>Applications must be made using the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fs29.formsite.com\/m3nCYq\/tblglqacxe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CSC\u2019s online application system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the application form, candidates will be asked to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>List all undergraduate and postgraduate university qualifications obtained<\/li>\n<li>List up to 10 publications and prizes<\/li>\n<li>Provide details of employment history and explain how each job is relevant to the programme to be undertaken in the UK<\/li>\n<li>Provide a statement on the relevance of previous work experience to the proposed Scholarship<\/li>\n<li>List names and positions of three referees who are qualified to comment on both capacity to benefit from the proposed Scholarship in the UK and the candidate\u2019s ability to deliver development impact afterwards. One of your referees must be a current employer (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Provide a Development Impact statement in 4 parts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the first part you should explain how your proposed Scholarship relates to:<\/p>\n<p>a) development issues at the global, national, and local level<br \/>\nb) development issues connected to your chosen CSC development theme and the wider sector<\/p>\n<p>In the second part you should explain how you intend to apply your new skills once your Scholarship ends.<\/p>\n<p>In the third part you should outline what you expect will change in development terms following your Scholarship, including:<\/p>\n<p>a) the outcomes that you aim to achieve<br \/>\nb) the timeframe for their implementation<br \/>\nc) who the beneficiaries will be<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth part you should:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0Write about how the impact of your work could be best measured<br \/>\n2. Confirm what your award objectives are and how each of them will be met by the Scholarship programme<br \/>\n3. Confirm what your objectives are for the next two years and how each of them will be met by the Scholarship programme<br \/>\n4. Confirm what your objectives are in the longer term and how each of them will be met by the Scholarship programme<br \/>\n5. Provide a personal statement to summarise the ways in which your personal background has encouraged you to want to make an impact in your home country. You should indicate areas in which you have already contributed, such as having overcome any personal or community barriers to your chosen career<br \/>\n6. Link will open in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/uk-universities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scholarships<\/a>\u00a0are tenable at any approved UK university or higher education institution with which the CSC has a part funding agreement (as mentioned previously) for a specific programme of study. Scholarships are to obtain one degree; funding will not be extended to enable candidates to complete a qualification in addition to or higher than that for which the selection was made.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarships are made in respect of\u00a0<strong>full-time study only<\/strong>\u00a0and no other course of study may be undertaken at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>The CSC funds\u00a0<strong>one-year taught<\/strong>\u00a0Master\u2019s programmes only and does not fund MBAs.<\/p>\n<p>You must make clear in your application which qualification you are applying for. This will enable the CSC to consider your application in the correct category. Applications which do not make this clear may be considered ineligible.<\/p>\n<p>You are advised to list three universities and courses that you think are the most appropriate for your study, in order of preference, and to explain your reasons. This is important because the CSC will not change the university or course (or the order of preference) of a provisionally selected candidate after the point of selection, unless exceptional information becomes available that could not have been foreseen at the time of application.<\/p>\n<p>The CSC will make the final decision on institution of study, and reserves the right to overrule any preferences indicated by the candidate. The CSC will consider the suitability of the course and its value for money when deciding on any overrule.<\/p>\n<p>You must take the necessary steps to apply for admission to your preferred universities in advance of your scholarship application. Many courses have strict admission deadlines and you should check admission requirements carefully when applying. If you are selected for a Scholarship and have not applied and been accepted for the course(s) for which you are selected it may not be possible to proceed with your Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You must take the necessary steps to apply for admission to your preferred universities in advance of your scholarship application. Many courses have strict admission deadlines and\u00a0<\/strong>you should check admission requirements carefully when applying. If you are selected for a Scholarship and have not applied and been accepted for the course(s) for which you are selected it may not be possible to proceed with your Scholarship.<\/p>\n<h1>Financial assistance<\/h1>\n<p>Each scholarship provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)<\/li>\n<li>Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee<\/li>\n<li>Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of \u00a31,236 per month, or \u00a31,516 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels)<\/li>\n<li>Warm clothing allowance, where applicable<\/li>\n<li>Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable<\/li>\n<li>Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas<\/li>\n<li>If you have children and are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of \u00a3529 per month for the first child, and \u00a3131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at current levels)<\/li>\n<li>If you share that you have a disability, a full assessment of your needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The CSC\u2019s family allowances are intended to only be used as a contribution towards the cost of maintaining your family in the UK.<\/strong>\u00a0The true costs are likely to be considerably higher. Other scholarships, awards, or bursaries that cover the same costs may not be held concurrently.<\/li>\n<li>For the CSC to administer your application effectively and efficiently after you have submitted, it will be necessary to create a record in your name. If you are nominated for an award to the CSC, your details will be kept on file. Basic anonymised demographic data for all applicants will be kept for analytical research. The CSC is committed to protecting your personal information and to being transparent about the information we are collecting about you and what we do with it. Link will open in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/privacy-notice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">privacy notice<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If your application is successful, the CSC will notify you via email that you have been provisionally selected (selected for an award subject to the CSC agreeing your terms of admission to the university)<\/li>\n<li>The CSC does not require any candidates to take an IELTS (English language) test. You should note, however, that, as a further condition of your scholarship, you may be required by your university to provide evidence of a particular level of English language proficiency.<\/li>\n<li>The CSC will not be able to offer you a scholarship if it would contravene the terms and conditions of another scholarship that you have previously held.<\/li>\n<li>When terms of admission to the university have been agreed, the CSC will send you a Notification of Award (formal offer of a scholarship).<\/li>\n<li>When all conditions of the Notification of Award have been met, the CSC will send you a formal Confirmation of Award.<\/li>\n<li>You will be required to submit a\u00a0<a title=\"Click to view the Health and Disability Form. Link will open in a new window.\" href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Health-and-Disability-Form-2020-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health and Disability Form<\/a>\u00a0before your Confirmation of Award can be issued.<\/li>\n<li>You will be required to sign an undertaking to return to your home country as soon as possible after the end of your award.<\/li>\n<li>You are expected to start your award on the date stated in your Notification of Award.<\/li>\n<li>If you require a Student visa to come to the UK to study, you must meet all relevant immigration requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration. You should check the GOV.UK website for updated information.<\/li>\n<li>All UK immigration regulations are set by UK Visas and Immigration and are subject to change. The CSC has no control over these regulations.<\/li>\n<li>You will be selected for an award based on the plan of study outlined on your application form, which is not expected to change significantly during your award. Any such changes must be agreed by the CSC.<\/li>\n<li>You are expected to reside in the UK throughout your award, and to seek approval from the CSC in advance for any overseas travel.<\/li>\n<li>You must not undertake paid employment during your award without approval from the CSC in advance.<\/li>\n<li>The CSC will consider a request to extend your leave to remain in the UK after your award only if you wish to move from Master\u2019s to PhD study. Strict conditions will apply.<\/li>\n<li>The CSC cannot provide a letter of support or permission for you to remain in or return to the UK after your award to enable you to work.<\/li>\n<li>You are not eligible to apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship if you; are an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee of the Government of the United Kingdom; or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities or the British Council; or a Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner, former Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner or a relative of a Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner. Former employees of the organisations listed above are eligible to apply three years after ceasing their employment with them.<\/li>\n<li>In line with the UK Bribery Act 2010, any applicant convicted of bribery will be banned from reapplying for a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship for a period of up to five years.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are expected to adhere to the CSC\u2019s\u00a0<a title=\"Click to view the Code of Conduct.
