According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.extend.vc\/reports\">research from Extend Ventures<\/a>, in the 10 years from 2009-2019 only 0.24% of venture capital went to Black entrepreneurs \u2013 a total of 38 businesses. Just 0.02% went to Black female entrepreneurs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 offset-lg-1 col-lg-3   programmestat \">\n<h2>50%<\/h2>\n<p>of Black entrepreneurs consider racism to be a significant barrier to their business aspirations.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container programme\">\n<div class=\"row justify-content-md-center \">\n<div class=\"col-12 programmemaintext greenbullets\">\n<p>This flagship programme\u2019s focus on economic empowerment and equity of opportunity will reduce inequality and enable young Black entrepreneurs to thrive and succeed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>YOUNG, BLACK AND AMBITIOUS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>BEO\u2019s first official programme partner Sky will fully fund Future 100 for three years.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time a UK civil rights organisation and a corporate partner have set out to get behind Black business founders, in this way, supporting them to grow side-hustles into sustainable and long-lasting businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will help young Black entrepreneurs from all backgrounds whether they are in pre-seed, seed or growth phases.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>FUTURE 100\u00a0\u2013\u00a0KEY GOALS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Increased and improved access to finance:\u00a0<\/strong>More Black founders confidently scaling and diversifying their businesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Business growth:\u00a0<\/strong>More jobs created, more Black businesses succeeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Female founders boost:\u00a0<\/strong>Equity and better representation of Black female founders, reflected in an increase in women entrepreneurs participating and accessing finance through Future 100 or from other investors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supply chain involvement:\u00a0<\/strong>Increased participation of Black-owned SMEs within Sky\u2019s supply chain and the wider economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Policy changes and wider systemic impact<\/strong>: Codification of Future 100 leading to more, similar programmes and partnerships with corporates, and ultimately wider policy and systemic changes in the UK entrepreneurship landscape.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT FUTURE 100 WILL OFFER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Future 100 will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Offer funding of up to \u00a315,000 for\u00a0the most innovative new business ideas and exciting existing companies.<\/li>\n<li>Provide access for Black entrepreneurs to supply chains, connections and insights from a global business.\u00a0Sky is actively diversifying its supply chains to create greater opportunities for Black businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Offer tailored 12-week programme of workshops and insights days with Sky executives and other market-leading experts<\/li>\n<li>Work with a network of mentors and community organisations to advise and assist new enterprises through direct financial support and products nurturing talent and innovation.<\/li>\n<li>Support Black founders and entrepreneurs with relevant knowledge and skills, as well as opportunities to meet influential people, prospective partners and funders.<\/li>\n<li>Generate much-needed research and data around what works in overcoming barriers faced by Black British entrepreneurs. Real examples of successes and challenges from Future 100 will be widely shared, encouraging investment by other corporates in future programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>ECONOMIC PROSPERITY AT THE HEART OF EQUITY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>BEO\u2019s partnership with Sky began in 2021. Future 100 is a key part of the media and entertainment company\u2019s \u00a330 million commitment to tackle structural inequality and make a difference in communities impacted by racism.<\/p>\n<p>This programme, supporting the development of Black-owned and led businesses in the UK, recognises that economic prosperity and wealth creation is at the heart of Black equity.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHO IS IT FOR?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The programme is open to applicants between 18 and 30 years old of\u00a0Black African, Black Caribbean, Black British and\/or Mixed-race descent. You will need to be a UK resident.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you have been working on an idea in your spare time, have a small side-hustle that is taking off or have the beginnings of a thriving business, the Future 100 Growth Fund can help.<\/p>\n<h3>THE F100 GROWTH FUND<\/h3>\n<p><button class=\"accordion active\">Application criteria<\/button><\/p>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n<p><strong>For businesses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are interested in hearing from businesses with ideas, start-ups and businesses with a high potential for growth, acceleration and scalability. Your business will need to be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UK registered<\/li>\n<li>Data \u2013 or technology-driven and if available, have a MVP (minimum viable product)<\/li>\n<li>Ready to scale \u2013 you may have already had some investment (from family, friends or other sources)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><button class=\"accordion active\">For founders<\/button><\/p>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n<p>As a founder you will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be aged between 18 and 30 and a UK resident. We are particularly interested in supporting female Black founders.<\/li>\n<li>Be of Black African, Black Caribbean, Black British and\/or Mixed-race descent (at least one founder of a business must be of Black ethnic descent).<\/li>\n<li>Own at least 10% of the company and have sector-specific business and industry knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to commit to a 12-week hybrid programme of strategy workshops, insight day events, networking evenings and other events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants from the digital marketing, creative, media and technology, sports technology, professional services, entertainment, logistics, education, health and lifestyle, FinTech and Internet of Things sectors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><button class=\"accordion active\">Application process<\/button><\/p>\n<div class=\"panel\">\n<p>Applications will open on the 1st of July and close on August 20th.<\/p>\n<p>For the application process, we\u2019ll ask you to complete a form describing your business idea and the problem it solves. We\u2019re also interested in hearing about your motivation for developing the idea.<\/p>\n<p>After applications close, we\u2019ll review applications, and spend time getting to know even more about your team, market, progress, and idea through a two stage interview process.
