The deadline for submitting applications for the academic year 2023\/2024 is on 30 September 2022.<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<h4>General Information<\/h4>\n<p>Granting scholarships to citizens from developing countries listed below for studies at Czech public higher education institutions (referred to as \u201cuniversities\u201d) is an important part of the foreign development cooperation of the Czech Republic and has a long tradition. From the late 1950s to the present day over 20 000 foreign nationals have completed their studies at Czech universities with a scholarship of the Government of the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Government scholarships for studies at universities in the Czech Republic are governed by a Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 77 as of 28th January 2019 as part of a joint foreign development cooperation program pursued by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (<a title=\"[Open in new window] \" href=\"https:\/\/www.msmt.cz\/\">https:\/\/www.msmt.cz\/<\/a>) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (<a title=\"[Open in new window] \" href=\"https:\/\/www.mzv.cz\/\">https:\/\/www.mzv.cz\/<\/a>), implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (<a title=\"[Open in new window] \" href=\"https:\/\/www.mzcr.cz\/\">https:\/\/www.mzcr.cz\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h4>Eligible Countries and Study Programmes<\/h4>\n<p>Scholarships for the academic year 2023\/2024 are offered only to the citizens of the following countries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bosnia and Herzegovina,<\/li>\n<li>Cambodia,<\/li>\n<li>Ethiopia,<\/li>\n<li>Georgia,<\/li>\n<li>Moldova,<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine,<\/li>\n<li>and Zambia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The scholarships are dedicated solely to promoting the studies of foreign nationals from developing third countries. Neither a citizen of the Czech Republic, nor a citizen of the European Union, nor any other foreign national with a permanent residence permit in the territory of the Czech Republic may, therefore, apply for a scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>These so-called\u00a0<strong>Government Scholarships<\/strong>\u00a0are designed to cover the\u00a0<strong>standard length of study<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in\u00a0<strong class=\"c1\">Follow-up Master study programmes plus a one-year-long preparatory course of the Czech language<\/strong>\u00a0(which is combined with other field-specific training). Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor&#8217;s degree programmes.\u00a0They can enrol only in study programmes from the\u00a0<a class=\"c1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.msmt.cz\/file\/58173\/\">selected areas of study<\/a>\u00a0in which\u00a0<strong class=\"c1\">instruction is given in the Czech language<\/strong>.\u00a0Depending on the subject area, applicants are normally required to sit entrance examinations at the university concerned.
