SCIENTIFIC INTERNSHIPS (YEAR-ROUND)<\/h1>\n

Students who are either pursuing or have obtained a\u00a0bachelor\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0or a\u00a0master\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0degree in the natural or computer sciences, mathematics or any related discipline are eligible to apply for a scientific intern position at ISTA. A scientific intern can be appointed for a period of up to 1 year. Candidates are selected by the head of a research group (Professor or Assistant Professor) and the appointment is subject to the availability of sufficient funds for the salary of the scientific intern and a formal approval of the Academic Affairs division. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, and those interested in an independent scientific intern position at ISTA should contact the respective group leader directly.<\/p>\n

Please note: Not all research groups are able to accept an intern. We only take complete applications into consideration, including 1) applicant\u2019s CV, and 2) a short motivation letter stating why their profile and research interests match the group\u2019s research topics.\u00a0Incomplete and\/or irrelevant applications will NOT be processed. Due to the sheer volume of applications we receive, we only reply to\u00a0selected<\/em>\u00a0candidates.<\/p>\n

ISTA offers scientific interns a minimum salary of EUR 1,119 gross per month.<\/p>\n

ISTA does not charge any processing or application fees for any of its programs at any stage, including scientific internships.<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHAT DO FACULTY MEMBERS LOOK FOR?<\/h5>\n

It is important for you to show passion and interest for the research topic of the group you\u2019re applying to. Having the relevant educational background is a must, while having transferable\/related research experience or technical skills and know-how would be a big benefit.<\/p>\n

First, you identify which research group you\u2019re most interested in working with. In order to find out about the range of research groups available, please browse\u00a0this overview of research groups<\/a>\u00a0available.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve found a research group you\u2019d like to work with, email the research group leader directly, remembering to include:<\/p>\n

  • a short intro to your background, and your motivation to work with them<\/li>\n
  • an attached CV (in PDF format), listing relevant experience, education history<\/li>\n
  • possible dates for your internship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If the research group leader is interested in hosting you as a scientific intern in their research group, he\/she or his\/her assistant will be in touch with you regarding the next steps.<\/p>\n
