As wildlife populations decline, many rural communities and indigenous peoples\u2019 are being left without food and an income. This situation is becoming more critical as the demand for wild meat grows in towns and cities. The Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme is developing innovative solutions based on field projects in thirteen countries. It is a seven-year (2018-2024) African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) initiative, which is being funded by the European Union with co-funding from the French Global Environment Facility. This project is led by the United Nations Food &amp; Agriculture Organization (FAO), in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD). For more information: https:\/\/www.swm-programme.info\/<\/p>\n<p>This role is based within WCS EU, a Belgian international nonprofit association which supports the work of the Wildlife Conservation Society throughout the world to conserve wildlife and wild places. With more than a century of experience, long-term commitments in dozens of landscapes, presence in more than 60 nations, and experience helping to establish over 150 protected areas across the globe, WCS has amassed the biological knowledge, cultural understanding and partnerships to ensure that vibrant, wild places and wildlife thrive alongside local communities.<\/p>\n<p>Broad description of the role:<br \/>\nThe SWM Programme technical assistant is twofold: first to support the WCS Chief of Party in Brussels, and second to support the SWM Site Coordinator in Democratic Republic of the Congo on reporting and monitoring, evaluation, and learning. As part of the support to the WCS Chief of Party, the \u00a0SWM Programme technical assistant will also be involved in the preparation of documents related to the Result 3 of the SWM Programme: \u201cSupply of alternative proteins is improved\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The SWM Programme technical assistant will work in close coordination with the SWM Chief of Party and the SWM DRC site coordinator to define the precise tasks and priorities. The main tasks of the SWM Programme technical assistant are described below.<\/p>\n<p>Provide support and coordination for all SWM sites and coordination of \u201cResult 3\u201d:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contribute to the documents required for planning and reporting (monthly reports, six-month and annual reports, procurement plans, workplans, M\/E scorecards, etc..).<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Draft documents related to the production of alternative proteins to wild meat based on existing documentation, conduct online research on specific topics.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ensure all tasks are properly monitored in Asana ; support the sites as needed.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Procurement and subgrants: contribute to documents for SWM procurements and subgrants (call for offers, notes for the file, vendor justification form\u2026). Ensure all documentation is kept in the SWM Google Drive;<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Organize meetings as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Technical documentation and communication:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Keep the SWM database of products (Googlesheet) up to date and ensure it is consistent with other reports produced. Perform extracts of this database as needed to provide information to the site coordinators, the donors or other partners.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Format technical reports in French and English; ensure the layout is consistent with the SWM templates and reports are professionally formatted<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Create graphics, diagrams or other visuals for reports when needed.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Create summaries and Powerpoint presentations from the reports or of parts of the reports as needed.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contribute to the creation of communication materials from existing documents (factsheets, posters, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Support to the SWM DRC site coordinator:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Support the site coordinator in the proper implementation of the SWM project in DRC.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Prepare the monthly, semi-annual and annual technical reports.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Participate in the preparation of budgets and financial reports.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Support the administrative and logistical organization of field missions.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including the updating of program monitoring tools.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Lead the drafting of the annual communication plans as well as the implementation of the plan: contribute to the creation of materials and content for communication.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Support the organization of meetings as required.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contribute to the writing of technical activity reports.<\/p>\n<p>#LI-MT1<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ng-scope\">\n<p class=\"question thick ng-binding ng-scope section2LeftfieldsInJobDetails jobDetailTextArea\">Qualification Requirements<\/p>\n<p class=\"answer ng-scope section2LeftfieldsInJobDetails jobDetailTextArea\">\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A master&#8217;s degree (or equivalent in work experience) in science, social-science, environment, international development, \u00a0or other topic relevant to the work ;<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Interest and knowledge in environment, conservation, food security or related topics<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Understands and aligns with WCS work and values<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Rigour, flexibility, ability to work on various tasks<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Experience in project management ; experience using Asana or a similar software is a plus.<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Experience working with stakeholders from different cultures and in different time zones<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Willingness to travel to DRC field site ; experience working in, or with colleagues in Africa, is a plus<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides<br \/>\n\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Experience with PhotoShop, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator or other graphic design software is a plus<\/p>\n<p>WCS is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to hiring and supporting a diverse workforce.
