Apply for\u00a0IMRD<\/p>\n

The application for the International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) is conducted in two phases. First you will check whether you meet the\u00a0general admission requirements<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for the programme. Next you can submit your application via the Oasis application tool. The application for scholarships are done within the Oasis application.<\/p>\n

Choosing your IMRD track and focus area will be done in the Oasis tool. Before going further, we advise you to read our programme and course content first.<\/p>\n

DEADLINES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applications for the 2021 intake are currently closed. Applications will open again in 15 October 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n

Non-EEA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0citizens or\u00a0EEA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0citizens, applying for one of the\u00a0scholarships<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0managed by the IMRD consortium, need to complete the online application in Oasis by\u00a028 February<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Non-EEA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0citizens living in Belgium with a valid residence permit or\u00a0EEA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0citizens, that are not applying for a scholarship, must complete the application by\u00a031 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In order to follow the programme, students need to pay a participation cost, covering all activities the different universites should reasonably provide to enable you to complete your degree.<\/p>\n

What exactly does that include?<\/p>\n

Covered: lectures, case study participation, tuition fee for all partners where you take courses and an\u00a0accident and travel insurance<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not Covered: mobility between partner institutes, accommodation and living costs.<\/p>\n

For a detailed overview of the study costs of the programme please consult section 16 of the\u00a0IMRD student handbook<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Financial aid in the form of\u00a0scholarships<\/strong>\u00a0can be awarded to top applicants. A limited number of scholarships are awarded. You can select whether or not you wish to apply for a scholarship during the\u00a0online application<\/strong><\/a>. The application team nominates top applicants for scholarships. These applicants are then presented to the IMRD Selection Committee which decides on the final scholarship selection.<\/p>\n

The results of the scholarship selection are communicated at the end of April for Erasmus Mundus and VLIR-UOS scolarships.<\/p>\n

A programme country national is defined as a national from any of the European member states as well as Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey. You will only need to pay tuition after the application procedure is completed and before you enroll in IMRD. Tuition must be paid before the end of August if you wish to enroll in September.<\/p>\n

The goal of IMRD is to train professionals that contribute to solving socio-economic, natural resource and agricultural challenges in rural communities. The multi-disciplinary approach, the comparative study of EU and non-EU models, a flexible study programme and the unique mobility requirements stimulate students to gain a wide perspective of Rural Development and build an international network.<\/p>\n

It is a master programme covering four semesters (2 years) and 120\u00a0ECTS<\/strong><\/a>. It is jointly organised by\u00a06 core European partners<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a09 associated partners from outside Europe<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The programme starts every year early September at Ghent University (Belgium) with a preparatory course \u201cBePreP\u201d and kick-off event. The programme consists of 5 Modules, with the option of an internship, each of which can be followed at a different location.<\/p>\n
