The European Youth Forum is the platform of youth organisations in
\nEurope. We represent over 100 youth organisations, which bring
\ntogether tens of millions of young people from all over Europe.
\nThe Youth Forum works to empower young people to participate
\nactively in society to improve their own lives by representing and
\nadvocating their needs and interests and those of their
\norganisations. In the current uncertain political and social context
\nthat affects young people, they can be powerful catalysts for positive
\nchange and contributors of innovative solutions to Europe\u2019s
\nchallenges.<\/p>\n

The position
\nWe are recruiting a Policy and Advocacy Manager, focused on youth
\nparticipation and digitalisation. The successful candidate will work
\nunder the supervision of the External Affairs Director to support our
\nExternal Affairs and Policy and Advocacy work.<\/p>\n

RESPONSIBILITIES
\n\u25cf Be the main point of contact and expert on youth
\nparticipation in the Youth Forum. Identify opportunities for
\nadvocacy on youth participation at EU, Council of Europe and
\nUN level and ensure coordination with relevant team
\nmembers, member organisations and other partners.
\n\u25cf Strategically lead the European Youth Forum’s relationship
\ntowards the Council of Europe.
\n\u25cf Develop and implement the Youth Forum\u2019s policy and
\nadvocacy strategy on digitalisation- a new topic for us.
\n\u25cf Support the Youth Forum\u2019s advocacy on platform workers (as
\nlinked to digitalisation portfolio).
\n\u25cf Lead the Youth Forum\u2019s involvement in the 2022 Council of
\nEurope campaign on \u2018Revitalising Democracy\u2019.
\n\u25cf Support 1-3 team members so each colleague has the
\ncapacity to lead on their agreed objectives and key results,
\nincluding but not limited to the EU Youth Dialogue, the
\ndevelopment of the Youth Test (a tool to youth-proof future
\npolicies), global youth cooperation and funding for youth
\norganisations.
\n\u25cf Supervise the day-to-day operations of the team in terms of
\nHR, providing feedback on major milestones, monitoring
\nperformance, motivating and coaching, following-up on well-
\nbeing.
\n\u25cf Ensure ongoing and regular coordination with the European
\nYouth Forum Board for areas under your portfolio.
\n\u25cf Represent the Forum externally.
\n\u25cf Building strategic partnerships with relevant external
\ninstitutional stakeholders and civil society, as well as the
\nEuropean Youth Forum membership.
\n\u25cf Contribute to the development of the annual plan of the
\nEuropean Youth Forum and ensure that the objectives of the
\nAnnual Plan related to this position are met within the agreed
\ntimeframe.
\n\u25cf Coordinate the organisation of relevant meetings and
\nconferences.
\n\u25cf Oversee execution of the budget allocated to the working
\narea.
\n\u25cf Draft briefings, reports, working and strategy papers as well
\nas articles for internal and external European Youth Forum
\npublications.
\n\u25cf Report to and support the External Affairs Director- Policy and
\nAdvocacy in the management of the External Affairs
\nDepartment.
\n\u25cf Provide support to management, including hiring and
\ntraining new team members, as well as to other colleagues
\nand departments of the European Youth Forum as
\nappropriate and necessary.<\/p>\n

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
\n\u25cf At least 4 years of working experience in advocacy with an
\nNGO or relevant international organisations is required, with
\nproven ability to design and manage complex advocacy
\nprocesses.
\n\u25cf Experience working with the Council of Europe and
\nknowledge of EU institutions are definite assets.
\n\u25cf Degree in social sciences, such as political sciences,
\ninternational relations, economics or law or equivalent work
\nexperience.
\n\u25cf Proven ability to produce advocacy materials and to develop
\nmechanisms to share and manage advocacy information and
\nknowledge.
\n\u25cf Experience in advocacy on youth and\/or digital topics is a
\ndefinite asset.
\n\u25cf Experience with a youth participation mechanism (e.g. EU
\nYouth Dialogue, Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of
\nEurope) and\/or background in a youth organisation is a
\ndefinite asset.
\n\u25cf Experience with campaigning is a definite asset.
\n\u25cf Experience with coordinating networks\/coalitions of
\nmembers and partners.
\n\u25cf Ability to develop and build a strong network of institutional
\nand other partners and to advocate effectively.
\n\u25cf Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving and
\ndecision-making skills
\n\u25cf Excellent planning and organisation skills.
\n\u25cf Ability to lead and supervise a team.
\n\u25cf Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage a challenging
\nworkload.
\n\u25cf Ability to identify, process and analyse relevant information
\nfrom multiple sources quickly.
\n\u25cf Excellent research, writing and communication skills.
\n\u25cf Excellent interpersonal skills.
\n\u25cf Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team on
\ncommon projects.
\n\u25cf Computer literacy, with good working knowledge of word
\nprocessing, email and online applications.
\n\u25cf Languages: Strong oral and written English is required, good
\nknowledge of French is an asset.
\n\u25cf Committed to the European Youth Forum\u2019s vision and
\nmission.<\/p>\n

TERMS OF THE CONTRACT
\n\u25cf We offer a two year contract , full time (35 hours per week),
\nafterwards followed by an open-ended contract. The gross
\nmonthly salary according to the Collective Bargaining
\nAgreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum)
\nis \u20ac3,200.
\n\u25cf A relocation package, hospitalisation insurance and other
\nbenefits are available. Travel expenses within the Brussels
\nregion are covered by the European Youth Forum.
\n\u25cf Candidates to this position should be willing to travel and
\nwork flexible hours including if required occasional weekends.
\n\u25cf This position being based in Brussels candidates should be
\nwilling to relocate or live in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
