{"id":81271,"date":"2021-12-06T22:35:17","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T22:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plopandrei.com\/?p=81271"},"modified":"2021-12-06T22:35:17","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T22:35:17","slug":"university-college-london-graduate-research-scholarships-in-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cvnextjob.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/06\/university-college-london-graduate-research-scholarships-in-the-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"University College London, Graduate Research Scholarships in the #UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><h1><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-81272\" src=\"http:\/\/plopandrei.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/plopandrei.com_-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"364\" \/><\/h1>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1 class=\"heading\">Graduate Research Scholarships<\/h1>\n<div class=\"site-content__main\">\n<article class=\"article\">\n<p class=\"content-summary\">UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) aim to attract high-quality students to undertake research at UCL.<\/p>\n<p class=\"heading\">UCL&#8217;s Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) are available annually to prospective and current UCL research students from any country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box tagged box--bar-thin\">\n<h2>Key information<\/h2>\n<p><i class=\"fa fa-key\"><\/i><strong>Value:<\/strong>\u00a0UK\u00a0rate fees and maintenance stipend<br \/>\n<strong>Available to:<\/strong>\u00a0Prospective and current students<br \/>\n<strong>Selection criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0Academic merit<br \/>\n<strong>Eligible fee status:<\/strong>\u00a0UK, Overseas<br \/>\n<strong>Eligible programmes:\u00a0<\/strong>Full- or part-time research degrees<br \/>\n<strong>Additional eligibility criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0At least 2:1 at undergraduate (or equivalent)<br \/>\n<strong>Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a014\u00a0January 2022<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>In order to APPLY, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have submitted an application to, or currently be registered on, a full- or part-time research degree programme at UCL by the scholarship deadline;<\/li>\n<li>holding or expected to achieve at least an upper second-class Honours UK undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to be AWARDED IF SELECTED, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be in receipt of an offer of admission to, or currently be registered on, a full- or part-time research degree programme at UCL.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You may apply if you are a current student, but if you are entering your third year of research you will normally only be considered for funding in exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE NOTE: If you are an Online, Non-resident PhDs and Professional Doctorate student, you are not currently eligible for this scholarship programme.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Value, benefits, and duration<\/h2>\n<p>The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the standard postgraduate UK rate (2021\/22: \u00a35,525) plus a maintenance stipend (2021\/22: \u00a317,609)\u00a0for full-time study (benefits are calculated &#8216;pro rata&#8217; for part-time students).<\/p>\n<p>In the instance in which a student with &#8216;Overseas&#8217; fee status is awarded the scholarship, they will also be awarded an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/scholarships\/overseas-research-scholarships\">Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS)<\/a>\u00a0to cover the difference between the UK fee rate &#8211; covered by the GRS &#8211; and their full fee.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship also includes additional research costs of up to \u00a31,200 per year for the stated duration of the programme.<\/p>\n<p>Awards are normally tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time MPhil\/PhD\/EngD degree programme (or years 1-5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal.<\/p>\n<p>Where students are undertaking integrated four-year doctoral programmes the award will be extended to the final year of study.<\/p>\n<p>If granted, funding begins at the start of the next academic year.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"heading\">Selection<\/h2>\n<p>There is a combined selection by UCL academics for the research schemes. This selection panel will make the final decision on successful candidates based on academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"heading\">How to apply<\/h2>\n<p>In order to apply for GRS, you must complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"heading\">Step 1 &#8211; apply for admission to UCL<\/h3>\n<p><em>The following instructions apply to prospective students \u2013 current students already enrolled on their research degrees can proceed directly to Step 2.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You must submit a complete application for admission onto a research degree programme by the specified deadline. You do not need to have secured an offer of a place at UCL in order to apply for the scholarship,\u00a0<strong>but you must have submitted your admission application<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2 &#8211; submit your scholarship application documents to your department<\/h3>\n<p><em>The following instructions apply to both prospective and current students.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You must contact your\u00a0academic department\/institute\/division\/unit to notify them that you\u00a0would like to be considered for\u00a0a GRS\u00a0and must submit the below documents to them. Please use the below PDF\u00a0list of administrative contacts\u00a0to find where to submit your application materials. Please describe clearly \u2013 in language which can be understood by academics from any discipline \u2013 the aim of your research, the methodology you will use and the potential significance of this study to your discipline. It is extremely important that you pay attention to this summary and write in as clear language as possible as it may significantly affect the outcome of your application. The proposal should be written by you, not your supervisor or any other member of academic department staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Academic transcripts<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Please ensure that each academic transcript submitted includes clarification on the grading scale\/range of grades possible for that degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2 References\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0<strong>Reference number 1 should relate to your most recently completed university programme\/degree<\/strong>\u00a0(or the one you intend to complete, if applicable) and can be the same referee who submitted a reference as part of your admission application.
