We are looking for a a highly performant Political and Communications Officer to run (jointly) our UKinBelgium social media channels and provide sound media and political analysis to the Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>The Political and Communications Officer will be part of the Political and Public Diplomacy Team (PPD), which sits at the heart of the British Embassy to Belgium. The PPD team engages the Government of Belgium and provides reporting, analysis and external communications to support a range of UK interests in Belgium, including consular, economic, security, climate change and foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>This is a challenging, varied and fast-moving job, which requires a significant degree of independent working, contact making and flexibility. As a key member of the Embassy team and working in synch with the other Political and Communications Officer, the job holder will be expected to confidently run the UkinBelgium social media accounts, media monitor in a timely manner and report on ongoing Belgian political developments. The jobholder will need to deal confidently and fluently with a broad range of contacts in the media, Belgian and UK Governments, business and academic circles. The position will be filled on a \u201creplacement contract\u201d to cover a sabbatical leave for 12 months depending on start date. It is anticipated that the staff member will return\u202fin December 2022. We offer more days of annual leave than the Belgian requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that Belgian nationals will be paid their salary gross and are expected to comply with their tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the Belgian authorities.
