Halcyon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. Our signature programs are fellowships for early-stage social entrepreneurs, from around the world, designed to equip them with the tools and relationships they need to achieve scalable, lasting impact across sectors.<\/p>\n

More broadly, we seek to mold the business world to be a more inclusive, impact-oriented place. Since our founding in 2014, Halcyon has worked closely with entrepreneurs to identify their needs, conducted our own ecosystem research, and explored new programs and partnerships to make sustainability and growth possible for impact-driven entrepreneurs facing funding and opportunity gaps. For those entrepreneurs, Halcyon is a haven providing space, community, and access.<\/p>\n

Halcyon\u2019s Fellowships are\u00a0free<\/strong>, with\u00a0no fee or equity stake required<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Starting your fellowship application is the first step!<\/p>\n

We are currently accepting applications for<\/p>\n

1. \u00a0Halcyon\u2019s Flagship Residential Fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Opportunity Intensive Fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Africa Intensive Fellowship\u00a0<\/strong>(offered in partnership with Amazon Web Services).<\/p>\n

Our fellowships are open to\u00a0early-stage, for-profit, social entrepreneurs\u00a0<\/strong>from around the world!\u00a0<\/strong><\/u>Halcyon defines \u201cearly-stage\u201d as idea to approximately $500,000 USD in revenue. \u00a0We are sector agnostic; founders working in all sectors are eligible to apply.<\/p>\n

To be eligible for our\u00a0Flagship Residential Fellowship<\/strong>, you must be able to live at Halcyon, in Washington, DC and work on your venture fulltime during the residency portion of the fellowship: February 2022-July 2022.<\/p>\n

The Flagship Residential Fellowship is an immersive experience for entrepreneurs with programming several days per week. Fellows live and work at Halcyon for 5 months and benefit from a cohort of fellows from around the world and a variety of sectors.<\/p>\n

Our\u00a0Intensive Fellowships<\/strong>\u00a0are structured with a\u00a0virtual\u00a0<\/strong>meeting- 1 day per month and a 1 to 2 week\u00a0in-person residency<\/strong>\u00a0in Washington, DC (the exact length of the residency varies by intensive fellowship).<\/p>\n

Intensive Fellowships are a wonderful option for founders who are not able to commit to the 5-month, Washington DC residency required by the Flagship Residential Fellowship and who would benefit from a cohort with a shared geographic experience.<\/p>\n

Both our Flagship Residential and Intensive Fellowships offer a variety of benefits including skill and capacity development, access to a world class network of advisors, mentors, and technical experts, an equity-free stipend, and membership in a life-long community of global Halcyon Fellows.<\/p>\n

Application Tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Halcyon\u2019s application is an opportunity for the selection committee to learn more about you, your venture, and your\u00a0vision for impact.<\/strong>\u00a0The committee reviews each application using Halcyon\u2019s\u00a06 criteria: impact, problem\/solution, sustainability, execution, innovation, and talent<\/strong>. You can learn more about\u00a0Halcyon\u2019s 6 Selection criteria<\/strong>\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Halcyon uses one application for the three fellowships we are currently recruiting for (Flagship Residential, Africa Intensive, Opportunity Intensive Fellowship). \u00a0On your application you may request to be considered for more than one fellowship. However, to support as many founders as possible, founders may only complete ONE fellowship. If you would like to be considered for multiple fellowships, you will designate the fellowship you are MOST interested in, and your application will be reviewed for that fellowship first.<\/p>\n

Halcyon was founded with the mission to support the brightest and most committed social entrepreneurs, regardless of background and previous access to resources. We recognize that applying to an internationally known fellowship can be daunting. Halcyon designed our application with the goal to provide you with a variety of ways to tell your story. This includes short answer questions, multiple-selection questions, and the opportunity to upload additional content.<\/p>\n

It is not required to upload\u00a0additional content<\/strong>, but this is a wonderful way to bring your application to life and can include- but is not limited to: pitch decks, short video or audio recordings, business model canvas, and other creative ways that you would like to tell your story. \u00a0A short, informal video of you discussing your venture\/vision is a great way to showcase your passion and drive! It doesn\u2019t have to be fancy- it can be recorded on your phone or webcam. \u00a0Don\u2019t be afraid to have fun and show us your personality when completing your application<\/strong>. At Halcyon we love supporting founders with a\u00a0clear vision, strong ambition, and the drive to create dramatic positive influence.<\/strong><\/p>\n
