Open to both UK and overseas researchers, this scholarship covers tuition fees at the UK home rate and a stipend for up to 3.5 years to enable an outstanding researcher to undertake a PhD in the Department of Strategy &amp; Marketing on a full-time basis. The scholarship-holder will receive a maintenance package of \u00a317,500 p.a. and will be required to undertake 6 hours of teaching per week from their second term onwards.<\/div>\n<h3>Type of award<\/h3>\n<p>Postgraduate Research (PGR)<\/p>\n<h3>PhD project<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Subject of Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications are invited for research proposals dealing with any topic within the disciplines of Marketing and International Business (or mixtures of the two). Information regarding the research currently being undertaken in the Department can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/business-school\/people-and-departments\/strategy-and-marketing\">here<\/a>\u00a0on our research webpages, along with further information about our PhD programmes and details of the research interests of our faculty and current research students. For any queries regarding the suitability of a proposed research topic, please contact the PhD Convenor (see below).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Amount<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full tuition fee waiver for 3.5 years at the UK Home rate. Current fees for both the PhD in Accounting and the PhD in Finance are \u00a34,500 per year.<\/li>\n<li>A maintenance package worth \u00a317,500 per year comprising:\n<ul>\n<li>A teaching-based element in the form of remuneration for undertaking teaching and related duties for up to 6 hours per week from Term 2 of the first year onwards.<\/li>\n<li>A stipend to cover living expenses of the value required to bring the total annual income to \u00a317,500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p>To be eligible you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have or expect to have graduated with a first or 2:1 UK Master\u2019s degree (or international equivalent), in a relevant subject.<\/li>\n<li>Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>Qualify for the UK Home tuition fee rate; or, if applying as an international student, commit to funding the shortfall between the UK and overseas fee rates from personal or other sources in order to meet the full cost of the international tuition fee (currently \u00a318,500 per year).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Number of scholarships available<\/h3>\n<p>One in Marketing or International Business.<\/p>\n<h3>Deadline<\/h3>\n<p>1 September 2021 0:00 (GMT)<\/p>\n<h3>How to apply<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Apply online\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/study\/phd\/apply\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Select the\u00a0<strong>PhD in Management<\/strong>\u00a0with a September 2021 start date.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<strong>Finance<\/strong>\u00a0section you should enter the name of the scholarship, which is:\u00a0<strong><em>Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Strategy &amp; Marketing<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be sure to supply all the required documents, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All transcripts from Higher Education degrees;<\/li>\n<li>A current CV detailing all educational and employment history;<\/li>\n<li>Letters from two referees, where possible in relation to the specific project proposal being submitted;<\/li>\n<li>Research Proposal on a modern topic in Marketing and\/or International Business.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All applicants invited for interview will also be requested to submit a sample of written academic work prior to interview. As the award entails entering into a contract of employment with the University, no award will be made without an interview and statutory \u2018right to work\u2019 checks having first taken place. The teaching-related component will be paid via University payroll and be subject to standard salary deductions for Income Tax and National Insurance.
