In condi\u0163iile contempora-ne, \u015fomajul este considerat ca neocuparea for\u0163ei de munc\u0103. <br \/>\nOcuparea for\u0163ei de munc\u0103  poate fi exprimat\u0103 \u00een 2 modele:<br \/>\na) Ca  ocupare  absolut\u0103 \u2013 prin num\u0103rul persoanelor, care particip\u0103 la activit\u0103\u0163ile utile societ\u0103\u0163ii.                        <br \/>\n  PAO \u2013 persoane apte de munc\u0103 ocupate<br \/>\nb) Ocuparea  relativ\u0103 \u2013 prin rata ocup\u0103ri (Ro)<br \/>\n\u00cen ultimele decenii cre\u015fterea \u015fomajului influen\u0163eaz\u0103 substan\u0163ial asupra PNB, de aceea anali\u015fti acord\u0103 o deosebit\u0103 aten\u0163ie corela\u0163iei dintre cre\u015fterea economic\u0103 \u015fi \u015fomaj.<br \/>\nRata ocup\u0103rii \u2013 Ro poate fi determinat\u0103:<br \/>\nRo =  <br \/>\nPAO \u2013 persoane apte de munc\u0103 ocupate;PA \u2013 persoane apte de munc\u0103<br \/>\n \u015eomajul reprezint\u0103 o stare a pie\u0163i muncii caracterizat\u0103 printr-o ofert\u0103 a for\u0163ei de munc\u0103 mai mare dec\u00eet cererea de ea.<br \/>\n\u015eomajul mai poate fi caracterizat dup\u0103:<br \/>\na)  frecven\u0163a (c\u00eet de des se afl\u0103 o persoan\u0103 \u00een \u015fomaj timp de o perioad\u0103 de timp(un an));<br \/>\nb)  durata (timpul de aflare a persoanei \u00een \u015fomaj);<br \/>\nc)  distribu\u0163ia (reprezentat\u0103 dup\u0103 v\u00e2rst\u0103, sex, profesii).<br \/>\n\u015eomajul poate fi m\u0103surat \u00een forma lui relativ\u0103 \u015fi absolut\u0103.
