{"id":110726,"date":"2017-11-30T15:27:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T15:27:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2023-01-08T11:03:30","modified_gmt":"2023-01-08T11:03:30","slug":"keeping-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cvnextjob.com\/index.php\/2017\/11\/30\/keeping-watch\/","title":{"rendered":"Keeping Watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><h3 class=\"post-title entry-title\" itemprop=\"name\"><\/h3>\n<div class=\"post-header\"> <\/div>\n<p>On this&#8211;and every&#8211;Veteran&#8217;s Day, there will parades and speeches and  expressions of gratitude for those who served and those who still wear  the uniform. <\/p>\n<p>But sometimes, the day&#8217; s real meaning is reflected in quiet moments,  far removed from the official celebration.&nbsp; Over at FreeRepublic.com,  someone posted a remarkable photo that captures the essence of service,  sacrifice and gratitude:<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-5oofEHsp-oU\/VGI8tiXQWtI\/AAAAAAAAA4k\/JA6ibcssilI\/s1600\/EagleonTombstone.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"403\" src=\"http:\/\/cvnextjob.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/eagleontombstone.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-110727\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>It was taken by three years ago by amateur photographer Frank Glick, at  Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.&nbsp; Running ahead of  schedule on his morning commute, Glick took a detour through the  cemetery and spotted the bald eagle, sitting atop a veteran&#8217;s tomb  stone.&nbsp; He grabbed his camera and captured a timeless reminder of those  who gave so much in the cause of freedom.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Since then, the photo has gone viral, and rightfully so.&nbsp; Minneapolis <i>Star Tribune<\/i> columnist Jon Tevlin <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/local\/124543223.html\">wrote a 2011 column<\/a> about the photographer, and the World War II soldier whose tombstone provided a perch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On this&#8211;and every&#8211;Veteran&#8217;s Day, there will parades and speeches and expressions of gratitude for those who served and those who still wear the uniform.
