Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) 2020<\/h1>\n

1. Overview<\/h2>\n
This annual award, which began in 2007, is organized and presented by the\u00a0Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council (AFFRC), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan and supported by Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). Its purpose is to increase motivation among young researchers contributing to research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related industries in developing regions. Young researchers who show outstanding performance and research achievements that may lead to future innovation will be commended with the Japan Award.<\/div>\n

2. Eligibility<\/h2>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Candidates:<\/div>\n
    \n
  1. Should be researchers who have the nationality of developing countries and\/or territories, and belong to a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university<\/li>\n
  2. Should be under the age of 40 (as of January 1, 2020)<\/li>\n
  3. Should be engaged in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related industries in developing regions, including the food industry sector and the field of environment<\/li>\n
  4. Must be able to attend the commendation ceremony\u00a0in Japan, 2020<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    3. Award<\/h2>\n
    Up to\u00a0three researchers will be invited to Japan and awarded a testimonial by the Chairman of the AFFRC during the commendation ceremony. They will also receive a cash prize of US$5,000 each from JIRCAS (MOTAI-JIRCAS Award*).<\/p>\n

    \uff0a\u00a0Mr. Shigeru MOTAI is\u00a0a former Chairman of the AFFRC and the donor of this award. This award is supported by the Japan\u00a0International Research Center for Agricultural\u00a0Sciences (JIRCAS).\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

    4. How to apply<\/h2>\n
    \u00a0\u30fbFor application forms and\u00a0application guidelines, please\u00a0visit\u00a0the website of the Japan\u00a0International Research Center for\u00a0Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS)<\/a>.
    \u00a0\u30fbApplications must be submitted by the recommending research institute.
    \u00a0\u30fbOnly one researcher can be recommended from each institute, including its branches.
    \u00a0\u30fbDue date for submission of application is Monday, March 23, 2020.<\/div>\n
